Brust's Dragaera came out of an RPG, anything else nearly as good? 
  Without question, Brust's milieu for two important series of books comes from Robert Sloan's early D&D campaign. Steven has acknowledge this several times. Michael Swanwick sets a record (I think) 
  Swanwick wrote a biography of Hope Mirlees last year. It was nominated for the Hugo for best related work. Came in third -- Jack Vance's autobiography was the winner. However. Apparently Swanwick's book had a crazy small print run -- just 230 copies were printed, and there's been no second printing.... more »
