There was a very brief glimpse of them in part of one panel as the
Castle got shut down, which seemed to imply that they were trapped in
something that was about to kill them if not for the Castle's timely
shutdown.

That would be odd. As far as I can tell, you've been making the same
argument I have. That fiction remains fiction even if someone later
invents the technology that appeared in it.
If mine doesn't hold water, would yours be in trouble, too?
