I bought a custom domain for my blogspot blog (via the blogspot
purchase option under "publishing" under
"settings." (www.poorpenmanship.com).
It gave me a 404 message, so I switched back to publishing under my
free blogspot domain (www.theweishenmefiles.blogspot.com). I want to
switch the setting back to publish at poorpenmanship.com, but when I
switch to custom and enter the domain, it says "Another blog is
already hosted at this address."
Ostensibly it is MY blog that is hosted there. How do I get Blogger to
let me have my blog there?

Your DNS needs improvement, to start:
poorpenmanship.com. 3600 IN A 64.233.179.121
poorpenmanship.com. 3600 IN A 66.249.81.121
poorpenmanship.com. 3600 IN A 72.14.207.121
www.poorpenmanship.com. 3600 IN CNAME ghs.google.com.
• Finding host IP address...
• Host IP address = 66.249.81.121
• Finding TCP protocol...
• Binding to local socket...
• Connecting to host...
Maximum execution time of 15 seconds exceeded!
I'm sorry, nitecruzr, but I don't know how to change DNS settings. I'm
thinking I bypassed that part of the process by buying my domain from
Blogger — a choice I now deeply regret.
Now the custom domain for my other blog, www.findingslc.com also is
not working. It was working great for about a week, suddenly changed
to 404 message. This happened after I clicked the "Redirect
findingslc.com to www.findingslc.com" box, and was told a blog already
was at that domain (AGAIN, MINE!!!)
I have spent a LOT of time on these blogs. I am extremely frustrated.
I paid $20 for two domains, and now google apps says they don't have
time to answer my questions. They didn't even send me a receipt for
the findingslc domain.
If anyone can tell me how to fix this in tech-dunce terms, I would
DEEPLY appreciate it. I am willing to undo my custom domain and
recreate both web sites entirely at Wordpress at this point.

OK. I deleted 66.249.81.121 from Poorpenmanship's A (Host) list,
switched to custom domain in the Blogger setting, and it's up and
running!!! And I got re-logged into findingslc's administrator-hood.
Thanks so, so, so much, Chuck! Seriously, I'm sorry I was crabby
earlier. I just needed to read more and get comfortable with
everything.
BUT...
I deleted 66.249.81.121 from findingslc's A (Host) list, and I'm still
getting the 404. The TTL of an hour hasn't yet passed, but when I
refreshed the Total DNS Control Panel, that bad number was gone -- no
more "pending" note.
Should I just sit tight and wait for the hour, or is there another
problem?
We should write a song about Blogger's custom domains! I'm thinking
punk.
