He knows pitching, CC specifically, is the key to the whole 2009
Yankee season. Mussina retired and Pettitte will likely follow him out
the door. Yankees know that without CC it will be a repeat of 2008 or
worse. This has all the makings of CC using the Yankees. Either he
doesn't want to go to Yankees and he's using them to drive up his
offer from the Angels or Dodgers, or he's trying to pretend he will
sign elsewhere in order to get the Yankees to bid against themselves.
Still, its hard to believe CC would do this for an extra 5 or 10
million when he could already get 140 million. I think he's going to
the West Coast, like he always said he would.
